Victoria
Alright y'all. So I know I've been inconsistent, but the trip started and its been hectic and amazing and everything I hoped it would be. So we started in Victoria. To give you an idea, Vic looks kind of like this....
Victoria is a pretty nice city, but really small. Like way smaller than I thought. Unexpectedly, that doesn't mean theres no nightlife, and people are about and very gregarious. Met some hick Australian guy who was totally incomprehensible and a lovely young lady from Alabama who insists we come visit her in Texas. We ate at a bar that puts most of Vancouver's establishments to shame. This place "the sticky wicket" has a 1500 person capacity, games room, rooftop patio, lounge, restaurant, and bar. Did I mention it fills every weekend? Or that they have beach volleyball on the roof? Yeah, those things too. So anyways, Victoria was pretty fun....until we met up with my cousin Cynthia...at which point it became....Way more fun! I got to sleep in a bed the first two days of a rugged trip, so that's a good sign and we jammed on wine til like 4 am the first night I was there. She had work the next day, which was sort of a damper, but gave me and the German time to hit up a farmers market and jam out around Vic for a bit. At the farmer's market, which was really small and slightly off-putting, we met Dana from "Hot Chick's Spice Mixes". She was cool and told us a bunch or farm's we should visit in the Cowichan, which is the coolest place ever. More on that later. That night we made our first 9$ Nosh, which will be a re-occuring theme of delicious meals made for under 9$ that can feed two people to full. Moving on, that night we all went out to Cyn's local pub, which was her first visit there. It was pretty full and we had to wait a while, when we realized it was wing night. We were uninterested, as we had recently chowed down on some delicious 9$ Nosh, but nevertheless waited it out for a couple of pitchers of Phillip's Brewery Blue Buck. Possibly the best beer on the west coast. Possibly. Anyways, the next morning we had eggs and parted ways with Cyn to get out of Vic and party on to Sooke.
