Winery Spotlight #5- Burrowing Owl
Burrowing Owl-
2nd Okanagan Winery
Story: An Australian who came to the okanagan to make wine. Extremely beautiful winery, huge tower for tours that goes through the wine-making process in a vertical fashion, beautiful vista and a nice enough restaurant. We visited this winery because I used to serve the Pinot Noir when I was bartending in Vancouver, and it was a cheeky wine that sold well but I couldn't remember if I liked it or not.
Wines:
Pinot Gris- Tart, almost clinically acidic and mineral
Chardonnay- Fennel straight away. Restaurant pairs with smoked tomato, which also seems a good decision.
Pinot Noir- 2000 cases of wine, simple profile but good wine
Merlot- Really nice merlot, lots of spice and tobacco
Syrah- Deep wine, Australian style syrah, touch of smoke and spice, lots of cherry
